What is LokalDrp?
LokalDrp is a real-world treasure hunt app where local businesses, artists, creators, and community members hide rewards in public spaces for others to discover. Seekers use the app to browse available drops, follow clues, and find hidden treasure like gift cards, merchandise, collectibles, and more. It launched in Sarasota, Florida, and is now available nationwide.
Is LokalDrp free?
Yes. LokalDrp is completely free to use. There are no subscription fees, no per-hunt charges, and no hidden costs. Seekers can browse and find drops for free, and Droppers can create unlimited drops for free. No credit card is required to sign up or participate.
What is a Seeker?
A Seeker is someone who uses LokalDrp to find hidden drops. Seekers browse available drops in the app, read clues and hints written by Droppers, and visit locations to discover rewards. When a Seeker finds a drop, they take a photo to share their discovery with the community.
What is a Dropper?
A Dropper is someone who creates drops. Droppers choose a reward, select a safe public location, write clues, and publish the drop for Seekers to find. Droppers can be local businesses, artists, creators, or anyone who wants to create a fun experience for their community.
How do I find an active drop?
Open the LokalDrp app or visit lokaldrp.com and sign in. Browse the drops feed to see active drops near you. Each drop includes a title, description, reward details, a hint, and a general location. Follow the clues to track down the hidden reward.
Why are active locations not shown publicly?
Active drop clues, hints, and exact locations are only available inside the LokalDrp app to protect the hunt experience for Seekers. Public pages on this website showcase completed discoveries, community stories, and general information, but never reveal where active treasures are currently hidden.
How do I create a drop?
Sign in to LokalDrp, go to your dashboard, and select Create Drop. Enter a title, description, reward details, a hint or riddle, and the drop location. Choose a category and difficulty level, then publish. Your drop will appear in the Seekers feed for others to discover.
What items can be hidden?
Droppers can hide a wide variety of rewards, including gift cards, merchandise, coupons, collectibles, art prints, stickers, event passes, and more. Items should be safe, lawful, family-friendly, and appropriate for a public space. Prohibited items include anything dangerous, illegal, age-restricted, or inappropriate.
What locations should be avoided?
Do not hide drops on private property without permission, in restricted areas, in roadways or traffic areas, in dangerous or hazardous terrain, or in locations that require trespassing. Choose safe, publicly accessible areas like parks, plazas, business districts, and community spaces. Always respect property rules and local ordinances.
What happens when a drop is discovered?
When a Seeker finds a drop, they take a photo and share it in the drop's activity thread. The Dropper is notified and can verify the discovery. The drop's found count increases, and the discovery may be featured in the community feed. The Seeker earns XP for their find.
What happens if a drop is not found?
Drops remain active until they expire, are paused by the Dropper, or are discovered. If a drop is not found within its active period, it will expire automatically. The Dropper can choose to re-hide the item, create a new drop, or retrieve the reward.
Can children use LokalDrp?
LokalDrp is not intended for users under the age of 13. Teenagers aged 13 and older may use the app, but we recommend parental guidance for younger participants, especially when visiting unfamiliar locations or interacting with the community.
Should children be supervised?
Yes. If a minor is participating in a treasure hunt, they should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Adults should supervise children at all times, especially near roads, water, wildlife, or unfamiliar areas. Use personal judgment and prioritize safety at every location.
How do I report an issue?
If you encounter an unsafe, inappropriate, or problematic drop, use the Report button on the drop detail page. You can also report individual comments or user behavior. Reports are reviewed by LokalDrp administrators, and appropriate action is taken in accordance with our Terms of Service and community guidelines.
How can a business contribute?
Local businesses can create drops to attract foot traffic, promote their brand, and engage with the community. Hide gift cards, coupons, free samples, or exclusive merchandise near your business. Is LokalDrp available on iPhone and Android?
Yes. LokalDrp is available on the web at lokaldrp.com, and as a native app on iOS and Android. You can use LokalDrp in any browser without downloading anything, or download the app for a more native experience. All versions are free.
Does LokalDrp guarantee an item will still be present?
No. LokalDrp does not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or fulfillment of any reward associated with a drop. All rewards are created and provided by Droppers. If a reward is missing, expired, or unavailable, please report it so the Dropper and LokalDrp team can address the issue.
Who is responsible for following park and property rules?
Users are solely responsible for following all applicable local, state, and federal laws, respecting public and private property, and complying with park and business rules. LokalDrp is not responsible for user conduct or misuse of the platform. Always use reasonable judgment when participating in any treasure hunt.
